    Changing paint color
I bought a gallon of soft green paint, Distant Shore, a sort of light foggy green. The paint sample looked good held up to wall in different places. The paint in can is true to the sample. I am painting it over lavendar paint in a brightly lit bathroom and it looks chartreuse!!

Should I buy some brown or dark green paint and try to add to my Distant Shores to tone down the yellow?

    Thanks

Whenever changing colors like this you should first use a primer - especially when going from a dark to a light color. You can go to the paint store and get a gallon of custom-mixed primer made up half white and half Distant Shore. Then after that's dry, paint over it with the Distant Shore and it should work out perfectly.

If you buy a good enough product, you don't habve to use primer to change colors. But drastic color changes always use 2 coats. Also, your new color is going to look probably wrong ( up against the old color) until you get it completely on covered...
