I am putting in new countertops with deeper sinks. I want to change my drain from a horizontal to a vertical through the bottom of the cabinet. What is the recommended distance from the wall to the center of the vertical drain? I have plenty of room to do this and want to make the change before the new countertops arrive.

We always off set drain inlet off to one side. It makes easier for drain installation especially if you have garbage disposer. In this case, we put it on the other side of G/D.

Sounds like he wants to replace his "P" trap,(see image) that goes into the wall to a "S" Trap that goes through the floor. Am I correct Pappa?

We can give you the figure only if you give us the distance from the wall to the center to the new sink drain. We usually pipe the drainage AFTER the countertop and sink's been installed. Good luck, Tom

That is correct, converting from a P trap to an S trap. I thought there was a standard dimension, similar to closet flange center from a wall for a toilet. On new construction, this is roughed in before the sinks are even ordered.

But this isn't "new construction" is it? In new construction you would be red tagged as illegal for your "S" trap.
You want a exact measure? Then furnish me with the exact center of the counter top sink cut out from the wall. We will then position your "S trap raiser directly under the center and pick up the two tubs with a center outlet continuous waste, (see image). Otherwise install the sink and work from there.
