Can I drain my washing machine into the sink's P trap? It now drains into the sink directly. If not how else can I do it?
Thanks

What are you picturing, installing some Tee or Wye above the trap?
I'm assuming your washer is draining into a laudry tub. The trap under this sink would most likely be 1 1/2 tubular. Won't want to use this trap for washer drain trap. Need to do some repiping. Give some about what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want to remove the sink?
Why not save yourself the hassle of attempting to tie a tee above the sink trap only to find out the tees elevation was too high to prevent back ups and simply continue to discharge the washer into the new sink? Think about it. Your tee, if you even have enough room to install it over the trap, will be at leat 20 inches higher then the floor and then have to 90 out frpm underneath the sink into another 90 and then into a stand pipe that if you terminate it 2" over the washers flood rim woll be woefully short. Add on the fact that you are undersizing it at 1 1/2" and I can see problems on down the line. Just my two cents worth! TomQuote:
