    Canadian passport is one needed now to enter from us
    Is a passport needed to enter canada from us or can we still use a birth certificate?

    Going to Canada in a few weeks. Can I still use my birth certificate, or do in need a passport to enter. Was told it wasn't going happen till 2007 with the passport.

    Crossing to Canada/USA does NOT require a passport at this time.

    As of Jan 1, 2007, you will need a passport for all AIR and SEA travel.

    As of Jan 1, 2008, you will need a passport for all LAND crossings. (this might be extended until 2009 though, there is currently a bill in the US Congress to extend the deadline, it has yet to be passed though)

    Captainforest is right but make sure you carry id. Birth certificate and one id. With photo to establish citizenship

    Yes.

    v-star brings up good points as well.

    While a passport is not yet necessarily, a birth certificate and some kind of government photo id is required (e.g. driver's license, health card)
