Ho do we cut a door hole into basement?
We have a 10" thick foundation that is bare (exposed) on the southern facing side, and would like to cut a hole for a standard sized door. We have tools, new bar for saw, etc. Are there concerns with cutting rebar?
    Thanks,

10" of what, cement or concrete block or what. Tell us where your main beam runs in the basement and which direction are the floor joists in relation to the wall you want to cut. We need toi see if the wall carries a load.

I'm trting to do the same thing. I have an existing door and id like to make it a double door. We have concrete block with double sill plate resting on it. Our current doorway has no header/lintel as the frame goes all the way up to the sill plate. Do I need to reinforce this if it has none? What about the lack of space? If I installed a 2x6 header in the opening under the sill, my door would have to be shortened. Any ideas?

You are piggy backing on another's question and we have already answered yours, sorry it isn't to your liking, but posting a new question is preferred to trying to ask in another's thread.

Agreed. Wqe tried to help Upstate 3weeks ago and he never came back so it's the same folks who tried to help him are now trying to help you. Don't fall off the map like Upstate did
