    Water heater location
I'm considering a remodel that could require relocation, and replacement, of the electric water heater. Ideally, it would be moved into the utility area. But since that is where the electrical service panel is, I need to know how far away the two need to be. And are there additional walls that need to be placed between the two?

There should be no problem in placing the water heater near the breaker box. We do it here all the time. Good luck, Tom

There is a 30" wide clear space requirement in front of a circuit panel. So don't sit the water heater in front of the circuit panel.
Good point Harold! We put them in garages all the time but not real close or directly in front of the breaker box.

Yes, we also place w/h in the same service room w/o problem.

The plan is to place it 50-60 inches away, across the room, from the service panel. Is this still a workable option?
