Semen production and blood pressure medicine
I have been taking a battery of meds for blood pressure:

Beta Blocker, Ca Channel Blocker, Angiotension II inhibitor, Diruetic.. the usual shotgun med approach to controlling hyper-tension.

So... I used to be very productive but since being on this regimen (2 or 3 years) my semem production is pretty pathetic... thin, watery, small amount. My wife is concerned that I'm drying up! (This is embarrassing!)

Anyway.. a friend of mine said he had the same problem.. went off the meds for about two months.. and he's back to where he was production-wise. No ED is involved.. that is not a problem.

But... of course, the BP is now a problem, again, for him. I have been off the meds for about a week, now and my BP is 140/98.. not horrible but above the line.

Anyone have any recommendations? Blood-letting, maybe? (Do barbers still do that?)

Thanks for any advise or shared experiences!

    John

I don't know what your whole health looks like, aside from the hypertension, but it looks like they brought out some heavy guns to keep your blood pressure down. Must be a good reason for this, so can you tell us what other health issues you have as well.

I have no other health issues at all. I am 61 but can do an 8-minute mile. Good monogomous relationship.

    Thanks

There are some natural supplements that you can take that help with blood pressure. Magnesium (400mg daily), L-Arginine (1,000-2,000 mg daily) and Omega 3 of which I prefer to take in the form of emulisfied liquid fish oil 1-3 tablespoons daily. Other supplements are zinc and copper. All these help the blood vessels relax and thus can lower blood pressure naturally. As a side benefit, they also help with semen production and erection strength.
You said you were placed on diuretics but didn't mention whether you are carrying any extra weight. If so, weight loss also brings down blood pressure. Typically, diuretics are given because of edema due to poor circulation. If that is the case, in addition to the supplements mentioned above, you need anti-oxidants with a high ORAC value to help heal your vascular system.
As a precaution, be very careful going on and off BP meds. One of my friends when for a job physical and they discovered he had extremely high blood pressure. He was referred to another doctor who placed him on medication. After several months, his BP was under control but he told me it was causing sexual problems and he decided he wasn't going to take the medication anymore. Of coures the BP when back up and within a week he had a massive heart attack and died behind the wheel of his car at age 35

Hey Mr Easy.. thanks for the reply.. I'll try some of your recommendations.

Diruetics, by the way, are the most commonly prescribed medication for hypertension.. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) (Furosimide, Lasix, etc) are used to reduce blood volume. They may be prescribed for edema and other symptoms, as well.

    Ciao!
