    Emailling Problems
I recently got a new computer and I use hotmail as my internet mail. When I click on a link to send an email, it takes me to hotmail homepage/sign in. This never happened on my old computer. I could click on the link and it put that address on the address line and let me send. What am I doing wrong. I am using XP.

You need to be signed into your hotmail account before you click on link

When you log in to hotmail, choose the option to remember password and then go back and try your link

I tried this, signed in, checked to save user name & password. But it did the same thing takes me to homepage. I am still signed in. I can send regular email, if created. But using a link doesn't work.

You cannot use windows mail with hotmail, what you could do is set up outlook to use with hotmail

Here is what you have to do
Register Windows Live Hotmail with the Default Programs tool in Windows Vista

    Sorry about that

OK, click on tools, internet options and the programs tab
Choose hotmail as your default email program

    > regsvr32 "%Programfiles%\Internet Explorer\HMMAPI.DLL"

-Now, OK, click on tools, internet options and the programs tab
Choose hotmail as your default email program from the drop down list and click Apply at bottom

Tried This, Message Says "Load Library Failed, Module Could Not be Found."
Still No Luck, This is getting very frustrating, I have spent a lot of time on this issue, maybe should have just stuck with old computer, it worked great.

    found this:

Open notepad and copy what is quoted below and save as HotmailFix.reg

Now once saved, double click on HotmailFix.reg and say OK to enter into the registry

Now go through process again - click on tools, internet options and the programs tabchoose hotmail as your default email program

For Hotmail as the default email client, apply this REG fix:

I have never had this problem myself as when I set up a new xp, this is one of the first things I do and I have done it myself with above information already posted

Try the link below to see if this may help and go through links posted above already and see if something can work out

How do I change the "mailto:" or default mail program? - Ask Leo!

Hope you do get this resolved but I just can't find any other information on this one than above info

I finally got this figured out. I had to install msn messenger and mail. Once I did that it all works well. Wonder if Internet Explorer 7 had something to do with it. That was the only difference between computers. Thanks for all your help.
