    Sewer smell after doing laundry
I have read several other questions and answers on this but I need to ask this also.
We currently changed washer and dryers from Maytag to Fisher & Paykel.
Since we have done this we have been getting a sewer smell as you walk downstars. The washer and dryer are on the first floor and we are on top of a hill in Wisconsin with strong winds at times. I was told maybe the pressure from the discharge is sucking the water from the sink in the bathroom downstairs so we ran some water down the sink after doing laundry and it seemed ljke a fix but it wasn't.
Is it possible that the change of the washer and dryer has caused something or is it just
Coincidental. Does it have something to do with a trap or vent or a cracked pipe? I do not see any water coming in anywhere and the smell does go away after an hour or so. It's just strange that you get the smell when your walking down the steps and right at the bottom of the steps.

    Help!

Greetings from a Beloit transplant to Florida, Smells and weird noises are the hardest top track down if you're not there but let's give it a try.
I don't think A different machine would cause your smell unless you have bacteria growing in the tub or hose. Does the washer smell bad inside?
Try this, next time you do a wash sniff the stand pipe as the washer's discharging. Is sewer gas coming out of the standpipe when the washer dumps? Let me know. Good luck, Tom
