Obama and your Second Amendment right

Obama has told us the SCOTUS judges that he doesn't like, and they are "original intent" judges. When you realize that the next president will likely appoint 2 new judges, then you need to think about what that may mean for your right to keep and bear arms. The SCOTUS recently comfirmed the 2nd amendment by 5 to 4. Just one more "living document" judge would have taken away that right. If that happens, how far behind can the other rights be?

Issues that he has voted for or expressed opinion on:

Ban handgun ownership.

Revoke right-to-carry laws in all states.(Statement made Sept. 15, 2004)

Ban semi-auto firearms.(Gun banners try to equate and demonize
Semi-auto with full auto, realizing most Americans don't have a clue
About the difference, and sadly that includes some gun owners.)

Shut down every firearm dealer within five miles of any school or
Park. (Stop and think about that, probably 95% of firearm dealers fall
Within that limitation.)

Impose "one-gun-a-month" rationing of your constitutionally protected right.

Require you to apply for a license to own a firearm, and to register
Your firearms. (When one license is a right, it ceases to be a right
And becomes a privilege granted at the whim of government, a privilege
That can be taken away at any time. And registration of weapons has
ALWAYS led to confiscation, without exception.)

He has supported legislation that would prosecute anyone that uses a gun for self-defense, even in their own home.

Supported legislation banning the sale of most all hunting ammunition.
(It is equated with "sniper rifles.")

Supported legislation that would increase taxes on firearms and
Ammunition by 500 percent.

Obama is NOT what we need.

By the time we pay all the taxes to pay for all the social programs it will not matter we won't be allowed extra money to buy guns with anyway

In your fifth paragraph you admit gun owners are poorly educated. Perhaps a major reason why gun violence is out of control in the states.
If you want a gun so badly surely you can drive to the industrial estate where the shop is five miles from a school or park to buy it?

Why would you need more than "one gun a month"? How dangerous is it over there?

Why give people a license to drive a car? Isn't it a right? Just let anyone drive then...

I heard Obama wants to take away all our driver's licenses and revoke car registrations too, and we're going to have to walk everywhere.

I'm a hunter and the gun I use isn't considered a sniper rifle, I don't believe.
If you're a true hunter you don't need a sniper rifle to hunt.

I am extremely educated and I am a gun owner. This is not why gun violence is out of control. If I want a gun, I go into my shop and fill out the necessary paperwork and submit to a background check and go home with my firearm.

It's the thugs who break into homes and steal guns then sell them to other thugs on the street for $25 or $50.

In many states you DO need a license to carry a gun. But the thugs don't do things the right way.

I have a sniper rifle. I'm not a sniper, I am a hunter, but I also use it for just plain old target shooting and for recreation, as well as the prize money.

Skell, it's not as bad here as you make it sound. There are people here who participate in the sport of target shooting, skeet shooting, etc. We are not all bad people. Actually, most of us legitimate gun owners are VERY educated people.

I think you missed my point about gun owners being educated. I didn't mean educated in general, I meant educated with respect to responsible gun ownership. Gal admitted many gun owners are uneducated when it comes to guns. That to me sounds like a problem.

I have always maintained that sport shooting is fine. Terrfic, Wonderful! Don't have a problem whatsoever. In fact we Australians are wonderful shooters and win many medals at the Olympics in shooting. Ive been to the range myself for a go. But why would a sport shooter need there sniper rifle at home. Wouldn't it be best kept securely locked away at the rifle range? Sport shooting is irrelevant to the topic in my opinion.

Unlicensed thugs steal cars too and go on reckless and dangerous rampages. Should that mean we do away with driving licenses and let it be a free for all on the roads?

I don't make it out to be bad. The media reports that come through almost weekly of mass shootings in schools, churches, shopping centres etc. of innocent children / people is what looks bad. I only comment on how terrible it seems and that nothing seems to be getting done to fix it. Whatever your doing at the moment obviously isn't working!

To insist that I think all people who own guns are "bad people" is completely unfair and baseless. I have never said anything of the sort. Not even close.

Only an armed people can be the real bulwark of popular liberty.

A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie.

I don't know. When I look at the Bill of Rights, I think ALL of them should be saved...

However, under the dufus in chief, and to continue under McSame, you lost your Fourth Amendment right to be searched without a warrant. The dufus is SPYING on YOU... Under the dufus, and to be continued under McSame, you lost your Fifth Amendment right to due process of law when the dufus took away your habeas corpus rights... Under the dufs in chief, you lost your Sixth Amendment right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment because we are tortures..

So, on balance, Obama is going to give you back THREE rights the dufus took away, and might take ONE from you. That's a net GAIN of TWO rights. We only got ten of 'em, so that's a gain of 20%. Pretty good in my book.

Please put Obama in the White House.

If you read the context abour automatic and semi-automatic weapons, you should ba able to see the point. Gun grabbers say they are after automatic weapons but include semi-automatic. They only want us to have muzzle loaders, if that.

My father had me out target shooting when I was ten. My mother's uncles and cousins were jackrabbit hunters in Idaho. My husband is a lifetime NRA member. I kept safe a friend's AK-47 while he was on vacation.

Then you should understand why someone might want to own a semi-automatic rifle or handgun.
