We set the thermastats a t 65 but the temperature always exceeds to 85 -90. The flow valves were changed. Someone said there is a way to check the thermastats by connecting the to zone wires( we have to zones one upstairs and one downstairs). Both zones are not shutting down can you help

First start by disconnecting one of the wires to each zone and see if they close. Then you will know if the valves are working.

Next is to disconnect the w wire on the thermostat or at the termination on the air handler this should also shut down the valves and show if the thermostats are working correctly.
