    Pardon Exceptions?
    Hey,

I was charged with theft OVER $5000 when I was around 19 and convicted with Theft Under $5000 With community service and 18 month probation.

I am now 23 and I have put that part of my life behind me. I have a great career in advertising and most importantly I have learned my lesson.

I would love to start traveling again back into the United States, which I have read is risky.
I am quite unsure of my eligibility for a pardon given that all my legal obligations ended about 1.75 years ago(I think). Now I understand there is a minimum 5 year waiting period. Is there an accelerated program for those who show complete change, and those who can provide many references as to my present situation and character?

    Thank you.

    Hello jose:

Well, there's nothing stopping you from applying... But, if the minimum is 5 years, they're going to make you wait 5 years. I know, you've changed your life around... They want to see EVIDENCE of that, and that's what the waiting period is all about.
