Vewing a job offer (which are rare these days) I ran across a PRN at a hostpital. What actually does a PRN do?
"as needed'. Typically written on prescriptions such as "1 T(with dot over it) BID PRN which translates to:
1 tablet twice a day as needed
It is an employee who works on an as needed basis. Many hospitals are going to this now.
PRN is usually the nursing staff. We have full time nurses, part time nurses and PRN nurses who only work a couple of times a month or whenever our staffing is low due to illness or an increase in census.
