When renovating my kitchen, I had a plumber come in and move the supply lines and my drain in the new place for my sink base. He left me with two cpvc pipes coming out of the wall with plugs in them and what looks like a brass ring around the pipe with no shut off valves. I cut the cpvc coming out of the wall before the brass ring---glued on an elbow to turn the pipe towards the faucet and then installed a shut off valve. All is well with the cold water supply line (that has the same configuration as the hot) but the hot water supply line when turning the water back on blows the elbow off the line and floods my kitchen. This has happened twice now... Swimming in my kitchen is getting old... any suggestions out there would be appreciated in advance

TamiOO - I hope you are not doing like one guy was doing and kept calling me wondering what was wrong ,why the fittings kept blowing off the pvc supply line, After the third call I ask him what he was using to clean off the end of the supply line ( HE SAID HE WAS Using SAND PAPER TO CLEAN IT OFF ) When I stopped laughing I told him to throw the sand paper away , Since he didn't have any of the reg.stuff to clean the pvc pipe then to take and put some pvc glue on the end and wipe it quick and then to reglue and put glue on and inside both pieces< Slip the elbow on and give it a 1/4 turn to the right position , let set for awhile before turning the pressure on . He called back a little lateer and said thanks it stayed glued that time ::
I hope you are not trying to connect pvc to cpvc . It won't do unless you are using a special piece made for that . NOTE The only other thing it could be is that the hot water tank has a very high temp. seting and there is too much pressure on the hot water side. But that is the very most extreem thing , That would mean that the pressure relief valve on the hot water should be blowing off , Re try again the way I told that other guy and see if that helps, If not come back on this post and will try something else :: Good luck Stay dry and GOD BLESS::F.B.E.

Did you use primer before you glued the elbo in? Primer takes the glaze of the PVC and allows the two parts to weld together. Regards, tom

Thanks so much for your replies. I had the same plumber come back this morning that moved the plumbing for me last week. He was impressed at the way I installed my cut off valves with the three step cleaner, primer and glue all for CPVC. He said I did good... LOL>.. the only problem was that he did not use CPVC for the water lines. He used another type of tubing called POLYBUTYLINE through the concrete block wall. The problem was he never told me what he used and I only had a small piece coming out of the wall and really couldn't tell the difference. Not sure to be mad or embarrassed... but I can tell you I have the cleanest kitchen floor in the country. He replumbed everything under the sink for a small fee and didn't charge me for the service call... All is happy and all is well... thought I would put this out there for people that are having the same problem. Thanks again to all that answered my question, you all are very special people.
