We need more details. Does the pump cycle by itself or every time you make a draw? When the pump pumps up to pressure does the gage show a drop right away and then the pump starts up again? Let's have some details here. Regards, tom

As soon as water is turned on (drawn), the pressure gage drops from about 50 psi down to 30 pounds which turns the pump on. This cycle continues about every 5 seconds until the water is turned off. Its easy to draw more than the pump can provide which can cause a spigot to run dry. The pressure in the tank is somewhere around 35 psi.

DD, you probably have a waterlogged tank. Speedball's question was a good one. If the tank holds pressure when no water is being used, then that usually narrows it down to the tank. Probably you have a bladder tank. If so, then there is an air valve on top. Press the valve for a few seconds and see if water comes out. If it does, then the bladder is ruptured.
