Residential well pump cycle on and off frequently
As soon as water is turned on (drawn), the pressure gage drops from about 50 psi down to 30 pounds which turns the pump on. This cycle continues about every 5 seconds until the water is turned off. Its easy to draw more than the pump can provide which can cause a spigot to run dry. The pressure in the tank is somewhere around 35 psi.
I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
DD, you probably have a waterlogged tank. Speedball's question was a good one. If the tank holds pressure when no water is being used, then that usually narrows it down to the tank. Probably you have a bladder tank. If so, then there is an air valve on top. Press the valve for a few seconds and see if water comes out. If it does, then the bladder is ruptured.
If that is the case, then look at this post. This guy has your problem. The advice will apply to you as well. Strangely, it is the post right above yours.
