What is a resonable amount to ask for during a defamation of character lawsuit if the false and exaggerated statements were quoted by this individual in a police report and then was later aired on the news? I am a school teacher and this affected my reputation as an educator in the community.

If this defamation has affected you so adversely that you have lost income, I would suggest that you retain an attorney to handle this suit for you versus you try and sue them yourself.
