Is it possible to be further along in pregnancy?
I am 9 weeks pregnant. My last period was on August 24, 2008 but only for a day. I had an ultrasound last week and the doctor says that I am 12 weeks. Is it possilbe that the baby can be large or is the ultrasound accurate. Thanks!

The ultrasound is more accurate then basing it on your LP.

    Congrats.

Yes the ultrasound is very accurate. I found out I was further along from it, that's why ultrasounds are very important.

Ultrasounds tell the age of your baby.

At my hospital we go by the LMP unless the dates are considerably different. Please understand that there can be a 2 week difference either way. With my handy dandy Gestation Wheel, the same ones the doctors use, I put you at 9 weeks. This gives about a 3 week difference. No big difference really. You may just be having a big baby.

I put your due date at May 29, has this changed after the ultrasound?

Well some women actually have a period even when they're pregnant. Also some women may spot a little when they're supposed to be due, so you may have counted that as your period but you may have been pregnant before then, which if the ultrasound is showing the growth is putting you further along, then it's more than likely accurate. :)
