    Wiring for dinning room light
When I disconnected my swag dinning room light to change out shade I realize there is a thin wire that runs beside the lamp wire in the chain that I do not know what to reconnect it to, I am not sure if this is a wire used to support the fixture, it all sort of came down at the same time and I did not see where it came from and I am worried what to do next

Your swag should only require a black and white wire and its likely in a cable that looks like a fine extension cord. If you have a 3rd wire outisde that cable I think its being used as a ground, especially if that wire is bare, is it?

Thanks for the reply! No the wire is not "bare", but it is not part of the lamp wiring. I am pretty sure that is is just as I thought, a support wire (like you would have for hanging a ceiling fan) I just didn't know where to attach it. I have since wired the black and whites and it works so I just looped the "support wire" around the bracket that the lamp is supported by.
