And do you have to have more than 1 tree? Also my tree has sprouted two more trees next to it can I dig these up and move them without hurting the main tree? And any other info on bananna plants would be great... thanks

I have a number of banana trees at the edge of a pond that I 'built' in our backyard. We live in central Texas, to give you an idea about our climate. They have produced fruit only one time since planting them, I guess that they were about 6-8 years old at the time. This may have just been a coincident however, having nothing to do with their age, but more to do with the weather at the time. It turns out that they are rather aggressive. My pond has a rubber liner (similiar to that of an innertube) and as they 'multiply' each year, the new sprouts have actually punched through the rubber liner, causing a leak in the pond! I've never tried separating them so can't tell you much about that. I assume they are much like plants that grolw from bulbs which 'multiply' every year and could be divided.
