My GE Dryer is squeaking very loudly. I purchased a bearing repair kit but cannot figure out how to get the top of the dryer. Can you help me with this?

How about a year and model for that GE. Most tops snap into place along a seam that runs all the way around the side 1" below the top. Slip a putty knife into that slot and then one or two more, pry down on two of those putty knives, did it pop?
