We had a beautiful lab retreiver come to our home he is about 1yr and weighs 60-70 lbs he loves to run and play catch, he will come in the house in a hunch back position like a cat and limp to lay down , he stays like this shivering from pain for about 20 minutes then he is fine till the next time does anybody have an idea what this could be?

He may have joint problems as some Labs are prone to. Who owns this dog? Is he just a stray? There are many possibilities without more info. He could be lost and hurt himself, and showed up at your door looking for help, or he could be an abused dog, and ran away, again looking for someone to help him.

Please take this little guy to the vet and have him checked out. He sounds like he is in a great deal of pain! He is trying to show you that with his body language. It is not normal for a dog to quiver like that. He is trying to get you to help him with his pain. Please do this for him. He would do it for you.

I'm sorry this question wasn't gotten to earlier. I hate to think of animals in pain. I have a Lab cross myself, and I can't stand to see her in any ammt of pain.

Seizures? Definitely get this poor guy to the vet ASAP!!

Sounds like a bad problem with joint pain. I've had a cat with similar problems, and a friend of mine had a dog with the same symptoms. Vet prescribed glucosamine and some mild painkiller/anti-inflamitory, and it seemed to help.

I didn't take it as being seizures, by the way it was described. The way I understood it, it sounded more like possibly muscle spasms. Since this happens usually after exercise, I would tend to think it was either bone or muscle related, and not brain related.

Seizures of course would be much more serious, and would need immediate attention, as time could be crucial. I've had a dog with epilepsy, and there is a big difference between a seizure, and just shaking or shivering, when they are trying to tell you that something is hurting them.

Regardless, this poor babe needs to be checked over by a vet to see what the problem is. He is in pain. :(
