Leak from pipe under outdoor water shut off
Beneath the water shut off for the outside faucet is approx 4 inches of pipe with an indoor faucet attached. The faucet blew off and sent water spewing all over my basement. I turned it off tightly, but water is still dripping from the pipe filling a 5 gal bucket in approx 8 hours. Can the pipe be capped or an new faucet attachment be put on? Or is it a more serious problem? I don't know if the connection failed due to age and corrosion, or if the drip caused pressure and forced it off. Bought the house a few years back, so I don't know the history, and I am not very handy.

Describe what blew off. A picture would be great. Please give us more details. Regards, Tom

Here are pics of the faucet piece that came off, and a pic of the shut off and leaky pipe.

    Kathicpa,

It looks like the blue handle shut off valve is leaking, remove the stem and replace the washer, see the image below.
