    A child's last name
Hi. I'm about to have a daughter and am going through a dilema. Her father says that it will be easier for her if she has only a first and a last name. Whichever tha last name. Mine or his.
But I believe that it will be better if she has one last name of mine and one from his side. Not thinking about how it sounds or anything. But thinking about legal matters.
For example: When I got married I decided not to add his last name to my name because of all my documents from other countries that would have to be changed as well. So this way, if my daughter has only his last name, won't it be difficult to prove she is my daughter whenever we travel or do other legal related matter? (I mean besides showing her birth certificate)
Does it make any easier on me and her if she has my last name or it doesn't matter?
Thank you veery much. I appreciate your help.

For the first 14 years of my life I had my mother's maiden name, which made any legal information easier on the family, now that I'm older, I chose to take my father's last name... it's not difficult, I think you should give her what you're more comfortable with.

The birth certificate would prove that she is your daughter. My daughter has her father's last name and I never was given any problems and by her not having your last name doesn't mean she isn't your child.
