California state law requires 100 feet of vegetation clearance with 30' cleared and 70' reduced veg. The local fire district is saying all 100' must be cleared. Can the local regulation be stronger than the state? Thank you for any help.

Hello skott:
I don't think so, but hiring a lawyer and fighting them would cost more than clearing what they want.

Actually yes, that is how it always happen. The local can not be less strong,
State, speed on local roads 45, local law has it at 20 or 30.
The city can not allow lower standards than the state, but they can always have tighter standards.
The difference is violation of state law or local ordianance.
Thanks for the help everyone. Turns out cal-fire gave permision to local departments to be more strict inside the 100' zone. But they cannot expand the zone. We cleared it. Thanks again.
