Went out and bought a fuel filter (F54714 Purolator), now I found the old fuel filter and removed 1 end but can't remove the end with the plastic fitting. Can anyone help me.

To release the "plastic fitting," pinch the two tabs together while pulling and wiggling the filter away from the fuel line. You may need to rock the filter enough to release those tabs.
Once free, fuel will most likely again flow from the disconnected filter. Have a catch pan nearby.
