help!! Need to find the immageries for the poem
the poem is called " A.B.C. of a Naval Trainee" by Roy Fuller
is the anger we hide with some danger,
Keeping it down like the twentieth beer.
B is the boredom we feel in this bedlam.
C is the cautious and supervised cheer.
D is the tea dope and e English duping,
Too feeble for folly, too strong for revolt.
F is the adjective near every object,
The chief of desires for both genius and dolt.
G is the gun which can kill at, say, Greenwich
If fired at St.Martin’s, and H is our hate.
Non-existent behind it wherever we wind it.
I is the image of common man’s fate.
J is the Joan ort the Jill or Joanna,
Appearing in dreams as a just missed train.
K is the kindness like Christmas tree candles,
Unexpected and grateful as poppies in grain.
L is the lung or the limb which in languor
Rests after work and will soon be exposed
To M which is murder, a world rather madder,
Where what we pretend now’s as real as your nose.
N is the nightingale’s song that we’re nothing
When the sky is a lucid darkening silk,
When the guns are at rest and the heart is a cancer
And our mouths make O at the moon of milk.
Then we remember, no longer a number,
We think of our duties as poets and men:
Beyond us lie Paris, Quebec, Rome, where diaries
Of millions record the same troubles and pain.
S is the silence for brooding on violence
T is the toughness imparted to all.
U is the unit that never will clown it
Again as the lonely, the shy or the tall.
V is the vastness: as actor and witness
We doubled our role and stammer at first.
W is war to start the quarries
Our everyday hunger and every night thirst.
X is the kiss or the unknown, the fissure
In misery stretching far back to the ape.
Y is the yearning for Eden returning;
Our ending, our Z and our only escape.
can anyone help me with this?? To find the imageries... please help~!
