Romex feeders of different awg secured in a 2" connector
Hi, Im working for someone who installed a sub panel in his garage. There are 18 romex cercuit feeders ranging from 14awg to 10awg. They enter the panel through a 2" romex connector. With respect to overheating, is this to many wires secuerd in this maner. Thanks

Any chance of seeing a picture of this installation? This is certainly not the standard method of terminating Romex cable into an enclosure. The 2 " connector, and I assume 2 = two, is not rated for NM-B cable, and certainly not for multiple cables.

Heating is not a concern, as I can sleeve multiple cables in a nipple up to 24" long without the need to derate the cables. It is just not the proper method of connecting cables.

The two inch connector looks like a romex connector I'll try to get a picture. The city inspecter writes need to split up home runs wire may heat up. He also writes need a junction box on service conduit, after third 90degree bend. This run only has three 90s and a 45

    I'm with TK!

Just note that the connector-either way-is not listed for 18 NM cables. Sounds like a clear violation to me.

The number of bends you have is fine. Ask the inspector for an explanation, then tell him to look at NEC 352.26 (2005 and 2008).
