I just got Direct TV and received an HD/DVR box. I'm trying to connect my DVD record so, that I may record the shows that I have recorded from the HD/DVR box. I have hooked up the y/r/w cables to the back of the box, but get no sound. Any suggestions on any other way to hook up these 2 components?

How are you connected to watch your directv? What brand and model of dvd recorder are you using? Give a more detail of your setup and I will be glad to help you.;)

They connected the direct TV HD/DVR with the blue/green/red cables, along with the red and white cables for the audio to my TV. I have a Pioneer DVD Recorder that has the same in the back along with the S-Video connection and the yellow, white and red connections. The Pioneer has 2 videos output and 2 videos input as well. I tried the y/w/r cables from the dvd recorder to the back of the HD DVR and get a picture but no sound. I appreciate your help. Thank you very much.
