    Changing fan/light to light only
I have anexisting ceiling fan and light . That is working . I would like to remove this and install a light only. After disconecting the fan/light I see 4 wires 1. red 2 black 3 white and a bare which is the ground. How do I connect the light to these wires, since the light only has 2 gold wires and a bare ground? Thanks

You have one more pair of wires than I would've expected, so you may have some experimenting to do.

    1. Bare wires - Easy first
Hook all the bare ground wires together
    2. White wires
Hook either one of your wires from the light to these
    3. Black/Red wires - These we have to experiment with
(If the blacks are hooked together already, leave them together)
      1. Hook the other wire from your light to the red wire and try your wall switches.
If one of them works and you're happy with that, insulate all the connections and you're done!
If you want the other wall switch to control the light instead:
      2. Unhook the wire from the light that is connected to the red wire and put it on the black wire (or pair of wires, if both were originally together) and try your wall switches. This should've allowed the other switch to control your light.
If the black wires were originally separated:
      3. Hook the wire from your new light to each one individually and try the switches. Stop when satisfied.

Be sure to insulate all connections with wire nuts and (optional) electrical tape. The only copper you should see is on the bare ground wires. Be very careful -- flip the breaker before working with the wires!

    I hope this helps,
