When I was very young my cousin (who was into Dungeons & Dragons type literature) showed me The Blood Book, which had black and white illustrations (i.e. of a man breaking his wrist). This was around 1983. I can't find this title anywhere.

In 1984 Clive Barker wrote Books of Blood, Volumes 1-3. I think this is what you are thinking of. If so, they are available on Amazon.com
