When I send anything soapy or foamy down my basement rinse tub drain, the suds come back up and all over the floor, making me have to pile towels around the drain hole and pipe.

The plumber who plumbed my house said there is a one-way valve that might work to solve my problem.

Any comments?

Your ploumber was referring to Flood Guard, (see image) these are check valves that fit inside a floor grains and prevent backups. My question is , Why didn't the plumber snake the drain and get the backup gone? Regards, tom

Thanks for the answer, Tom. The drain is not clogged. It's a new home, and the drain works wonderfully without backup as long as there is no soap in the water. Would this Flood Guard work against the soapy foam? Where can I buy one?

Hey Dave,
I have a hunch you're the victem of a poor plumbing design. The Flood-Guard check valve works on liquid not bubbles. My only suggestion would be to close off the floor drain with a plug of some sort. The only other thing would be to take up the cement and change the location of the floor drain.
