    If you are the defendant in a criminal case your attorney will request the "discovery" from the state. You are entitled to have a copy of whatever paperwork the state gives to your attorney in your particular case. The word discovery means any and all paperwork, evidence, statements, etc. that the state has against you that they will use in court against you.
