Expired lease renting month to month
I was recently in a one year lease that expired feb 08.. we have been renting month to month with a verbal that if I am going to move out I would give 60 day notice. I went to give my 60 day notice that I would be leaving as of Jan 1, 09 and was informed that I was responsible for the lease until the end of Feb 09. I live an PA and was wondering if with the expired lease are they able to hold me to Feb 09

Did the written lease contain a provision saying that it would automatically renew for one year if you did not notify the landlord that you would be leaving? If the lease contains such a provision then yes, you are responsible until Feb. 09.

If the lease did not contain an automatic renewal then you are a month-to-month tenant and you are no longer responsible after the 60 day notice period is over.
