Hello all, I am new to this site and am glad to have found it. I have an older whirpool top load washer. Today the spin cycle stopped working. Everything else is working properly, but it won't spin. Any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions. Nancy

It's 99.9% caused by the lid switch. It probably needs replaced. Call a service tech to open up your washer and replace the switch.
It can be one of two things, either the lid switch or the transmission gear has stripped. Neither one is very hard to replace as I have done both but you have to have time and know how. If you are not mechanically inclined or have someone there who is, call the repair man.
