    Forclosures and homes for sale
Hi I am a renter and I really don't know too much about real estate so that's why I am asking about this situation. I rented through a real estate in may 2008 and somewhere down the line I found out the house was going into foreclosure so I stopped paying rent in August 2008. Am I still liable to pay rent while I am still living there? Another situation occurred today oct 22, 2008 where the real estate hand delivered me a 30 day vacate from premises for non-payment. Can they remove me from the premises without going through the courts?

Hello, unless you live in California, yes you can not legally just stop paying rent, you will and do owe them every months rent that you live there and they may sue you for that money. I am surprised you got a 30 day notice most non payment is for a lot shorter term. But at the end of the 30 days they will serve you with a official court notice of a hearing where they will evict you.
