Who should receive genetic counseling
I would say anyone who has a known family history of a genetic condition that may effect their well being. Parents planning on children with known family histories may want to know so that they can make decisions that are best for them... have children or not, know what to look for during a pregnancy, how best to prepare if a known issue arrises for medical care... education... etc..
It can be quite personal... some people may want to know if they are likely to have a major health concern in their future so they can plan accordingly. Someone else may prefer not to know with the thought that they can't do anything about it anyway and they don't want that knowledge to effect their current circumstances.
