    Water heater convert
We are remodeling and have a good propane water heater. We want to convert it to natural gas. Is this possible? How?
    Thanks

I don't think you can do this in this case. You can change the ORIFICE on a propane grill so can use natural gas. Can also change the orifice on propane stove so can use natural gas... but I don't think you can accomplish the conversion with a propane to nat. gas water heater!

To be absolutely sure here... call a local plumbing supply house and ask to speak to the counter guys.. they should know or be able to direct you to proper place to find answer.

Can always contact ruud or rheem water heater company and ask them, too... check it out at www.ruud.com

Let me know if I missed this one... but I think this is not possible!

Yes you can buy orfices for most water heaters. Those that you can't you can use the propane orfice for the burner and also the pilot but you have to get the orfice size from the manafacture and drill them to the right size.

Almost any gas appliance can be converted to propane and vice versa if you can get the right orifice so I agree with Letme. I have never done a water heater but did convert several furnaces and stoves.

I have done some furnaces and stoves by changing orifices, like Mark and Bob says I haven't done water heater.
If you know the brand and the model number of your heater the best thing will be to conact the manafacture, Good Luck.
