Is my apartment up to code?
I have lived in the same apartment in Texas for more than a year now and I have never had a working light in my bedroom. I asked the apartment if the would put one in and they said I would have to pay them $60 to do it. I have heard that there is a law stating that all living spaces of an apartment must contain at least one light that works off a light switch or one outlit that works off a light switch. Does my apartment have to provide me with a light in my bedroom and if so what can I do if they refuse to?

If they don't fix it within a reasonable amount of time, you can have it fixed yourself and take the costs out of your rent. You need to do the research as to what is considered a reasonable amount of time in your state. And read your lease carefully.
