How can I reopen a default
My friend was hired by cleaning company in September, in December she notified them that she wants to quit and they made her sign an agreement which she was suppose to sign when she was hired, which was in English, she does not speak English very well, they didn't let lawyer to look at it and made her sign something she doesn't understand. One month later one of their clients canceled service with this company, she was sued by them saying that she stole their client. At Municipal Court she won and received a notice that other party appealed to Court of Common Pleas. She received notice in May 28. In June 18 she received notice for Arbitration Hearing, she thought it is next court date and she needs to be there, nothing else was sent between June 18 and October 22 (Arbitration Hearing Date) I went with her today and was told that there is no hearing for her as she already lost the case and court was on August 7, though she did not received any notice for the second court date. Now she wants to reopen the default and she does not want to hire a lawyer as it'll cost her more money, is there any way she can apply herself, is there any same or list of papers she needs to send and what format they have to be, if you can help us to find a source where we can find information on what papers and how to file I can help her out as her English is not very well.
    Thank you

If this was small claims court she can file a motion to vacate on the grounds of improper service stating she was never given the 8/7 date.

Small claims court is more informal and the court clerk will help her file the motion.
