Hi,

About 15 years ago, we moved our kitchen to a different part of the house. This involved moving gas, electrics, plumbing etc.

However over the last 5 years (could have been longer!) we've noticed that the drainage for the sink and washing machine seems to be overflowing in the outside gulley. The gulley was originally for the rainwater but we have the drainage pipe feeding into it. I assume this is the reason for the overflow?

So, could you advise on what has to be done? Do we need to extend that gulley and is it an extensive and expensive job? And do we need to notify Building Controls, as it may involve interefering with the manholes etc?

We do have 2 manholes in our garden which I believe are the main ones for all the houses in the terrace.

Yes. Extending the gulley is the best solution,and it's not expensive as you might think off. Besides the 2 manholes are available in the garden.
