What does 3rd party adoption mean for the following situation: CPS no longer will be "involved" with this yr long case, and recommends the baby be placed in a 3rd party adoption situation. The mother , according to CPS has not shown enough growth in "judgement" etc, and says that the mother can still obtain full custody of her baby after the 3rd party adoption takes place. Is this true? Or a bunch of bs? Please respond, as the mother of the baby, is my daughter. Thank you

Third party adoption means that the adopters are not related to in any way the birthfamily. The third party, in most cases, is an adoption agency.

Once parental rights are relinquished or severed, an ESPECIALLY after adoption papers are signed, there is absolutely NO regaining of full custody. Period.

I'd like to know what your daughter has done to have her parental rights that close to being severed (if they haven't been severed already). It generally takes a LOT for the state to take a child away from its parents completely---foster care, yes, but to sever parental rights so that an adoption can take place generally takes a serious offense, like child abuse or neglect.

Essentially, if you're going to fight this, if there is even a chance you CAN fight this, you're going to need a VERY good lawyer.
