    Signing over parental rights
Okay, so my daughter just turned a year old. The whole while I was pregnant her father wanted nothing to do with me or her. I have since than met a wonderful man who loves both my daughter and myself.. and we have been talking about him adopting my daughter. How do I go about this? I have talked to my ex about this he agrees to sign over all parental rights... but what do I need to do to ensure this gets done..?

Well first depending on where you live in the US, most ( not all) will want you to be married, and have been married for one year at least, at that point you hire an attorney, he draws up the paper work your ex signs over his rights, and then you file for adoption.

First, you have to get married. Most area will not allow an adoption unitl you have been married for a period.

Once you get married you contact a family law attorney who will tell you how long you need to wait and will prepare the adoption paperwork, including the termination of rights.
