H1B my wife on H4 - How to file taxes?
    Hi

I am working on H1-B for last one year and I am considered resident alien for tax purposes. My wife will be joining me on H4 visa in Nov 7. She hasn't been in US, so for tax purposes she is a non-resident alien.

    Question:
    1. How to file taxes? Married jointly or Married filing single?
    2. Should I include my wife's world wide income when I file? Since she is a non-resident alien shouldn't I exclude it?
    3. If I include her worldwide income, can I use form 2555 and form 1116 to claim foreign income exlcusion and credit?

Your advice will be helpful for preparing for next year.

    Thanks

    1. On H1-B, you can file resident tax return as married filing jointly even if your wife has never been to the U.S.

    2. On resident tax return (joint return), you must include worldwide income of your wife.

    3. Yes, you will use Form 2555 and or Form 1116.
