    Outlet location near bath sink
We're going round and round with our builder about the location of an outlet near a bathroom sink.

The wife does not want it in the mirror, but the builder says if we put in on the side wall (to the left of the sink) that it's too far away.

How close does an outlet have to be near a bath sink to be in code?

    Thanks,

    Ken

In most cases its just a matter of preference you can pretty much put the outlet any place you want. Just remember its got to be GFI outlet within 6ft of the vanity. I don't understand why your builder says its to far away what am I missing? Post back and let us know . GOOD LUCK, AC

Section 210.52 (D) of the 2008 NEC edition states:

"In dwelling units, at least one receptacle outlet shall be installed within 3 feet of the outside edge of each basin."

To help with your mirror situation, you may install it in the face of the cabinet below, no more than 12 inches below the counter top.
