Child can't talk at age 3.9 years
"My son is years and 10 months old. Though he follows some of my instructions like switch off the lights etc, he doesn't speak at all except of making noises. When i call him by his name, sometimes he listens and reach where iam sitting sometime he doesn't even look at me though iam sitting besides him. He quitely watches movies and plays with his toys but doesn't even says yes and/or no or mamma of daddy etc.

WHAT COULD BE THE REASON? IS HE NORMAL? Doctor says he doesn't speak because he doesn't look at our faces, when we speak, to understand lip language etc. I don't think this could be the reason. The said reason might be the reason for his less vocabulary had he been saying at least something.

But he doesn't speak at all.

    Please advise"

Hey, you should talk to a doctor who is an expert on autism. I have a cousin who had very similar symptoms and he is autistic.

I DO NOT WANT TO SCARE YOU! But on the other hand I don't want you to ignore this too.

This sounds like my youngest , he has oral motor dyspraxia aka aspraxia , he's not autistic as he give plenty eye contact and is v affectionate etc, however aspraxia is more common than most people realise , it varies on how severe but can be helped a lot with a good speech therapist , using drinking straws , blowing bubbles whistles etc. I use sign along and picture symbols to communicate as my son has no word or sounds at all either , however don't get too depressed over it , they adapt so fast and I found it a relief to get an answer on what was wrong ,so that I could feel like I was doing something - anything about it , best of luck to u :)
