Finding the name of a properties owner
How do I find out the name of the bank who owns a house that is in foreclosure.

Go to the recorder of deeds, the mortgage will be listed with the deed

First, if a property is in foreclosure then the bank doesn't own it YET. But any mortgages would be recorded with the deed in the county clerk's office.

And the tax record only shows you who is being billed or who was paying the taxes. This record is often somewhat behind if property has recently been sold, or foreclosed.

But the tax records will give you the address of who is being billed and/or paying the taxes on a property
