    Liens in Florida
I am on ssi sole income. I own my home thanks to my mom who is now gone. I live in Florida.
I have pretty good credit, and I let my friend move their debts to my credit card because I had such a low interest rate. She is finally working, killing herself at 80 hours a week to pay them. Now an old judgement popped up. She can't pay it, and doesn't know what to do. Problem is, she may not be able to pay the credit cards in the end of all this. I don't have any income other than ssi and can in no way pay them. Can the credit card companies attach to my house.

If it goes long enough with out you paying then yes they can attach a lien to your house in order to collect.

Yes, they can, your friend needs to pay your debt first.

And you need to learn a lesson, taking on someone else's bills is not helping them, it is only putting your own things at risk.

In fact if the payments get late, your interest rate will double or triple over night

Me again, so I have no protection under the Florida homestead law? I saw somnehwere you have to do something with the clerk of court to secure this protection, but can't figure out what.
It was a judgement from 4 years ago, a real mess.
So is there no protection for me in Florida?

Your protection is to pay the bill. Sorry, but it is in your name they want their money generally liens are the last thing they do they will make attepts to work with you on it but if you or someone dosen't pay then they will move on to the next step which would be a lien.
