Caught driving with a suspended license, is jail a must?
In the State of Virginia, my friend was stopped by an officer for making a wrong U turn. Eventually, the officer realized that he was knowingly driving with a suspended licence. His question is, is he just going to be fined or a jail sentence is a must?

I hardly think a jail sentence will be the outcome of making U turn and driving with a suspended license. His license is already suspended, so has he learned any kind of lesson at all, but maybe on second thought, jail time would be appropriate and maybe he wouldn't do it again. So, obviously didn't have insurance either ?

Well, is he on any kind of parole or probation? What did he lose his license for? How many offenses does he have?

I would think all of those things would be pertinant to his case.

Also, I'm sure it partly depends on his attitude, as well as how overwhelmed and crowded the "system" is where he's located.

If he was suspended for a DUI it is possible , but most likely he will get a very large fine, be given a longer probation.

I'm just posting to get a subscription to this question because I'd like to know the answer as well.
I know someone who got stopped in 3/06 and was given a citation for his 4th OWI; they revoked his license for 27 months. After having his license revoked, he got stopped in 5/08 and was given a citation for operating after revocation; this time, they suspended his license for 6 months. So what happens if he gets stopped again? With a record like he's got, does he get jail or is it just another heavy fine?
