    Alleric to fleas
My Pekingese is allergic to fleas. Although I have her on Advantage, and there are no visible signs of fleas, my VET says that is what is causing her to have little red bumps. Per my vet, I tried her on 10 mg of Benadryl 3 times a day and a food supplement and hypoallergenic shampoo. I only bathe her once a month because I am afraid if I do more it will weaken the Advantage. Help, she is scratching quite a bit.

The only thing I can advise is to try a different type of flea treatment.

Maybe even at once month you are bathing her too much. Along with the Advantage and the benadryl, her skin may be too dry.

I was thinking that too, I thought I would try giving her some bacon grease and see if that helps, I have her on lamb and rice dog food now

    I wouldn't recommend bacon grease !

I would use a salmon oil or olive oil, but just a drop would be enough for a little dog.

Ok thanks, good to know. When I was growing up, giving a dog bacon grease for dry skin was pretty common.

We all know dogs are susceptible to almost all common ailments humans are, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, etc. Years ago my dad would put a bit of bacon fact on the hounds' meal, but then we didn't know what we know now what that can do to our systems. I can't think of a more artery clogging substance then bacon fat.

My point is don't do it to your pup either if you want to enjoy a long happy healthier life with him/her.

I haven't heard of that rex. I know egg whites for topical treatment in facials is really good.
