Id like to know if theirs away I can paint my kitchen counter top and what kind of paint to use
I bought malemine paint with the express purpose of doing just that, paint my counter tops. It is the right paint, but after giving it careful consideration realized I would never ever get it clean enough with even the best scrubbing with chemicals and whatever, to gauarantee the paint would adhere. Even if the paint did, do you realize how it will react to day to day use ? It won't work, rjhillis because you could never put a pot down, never cut on it without it marking.
No paint can be used for countertops
Rustoleum... I'm only kidding though. I don't know of any paint that would hold up on a countertop. Have you thought of tiling your counter? There are ways you can tile your counter to give them a new look. I found a product that you stick to your counters and then you can put the mortar right over the top.
Hi, rjhillis!
I'm wondering why you are wanting to paint your kitchen counter top, please?
You can paint just about any material out of which counter tops are normally constructed, but paint will wear away eventually if it isn't protected in some way. Even if the paint might be coated with a polyurethane or epoxy of some kind, it will still be subject to dents because of objects that get placed on it and scratches because of objects that get slid across it.
Or, maybe your particular counter top that you are wanting to paint doesn't really get all that much use except for maybe decorative purposes?
We don't know that...
Thanks!
Hello I'm new here. The question about the counter top painting, my husband and I painted ours and hey are right with in time the paint will wear off and or if you scratch it then it will peal right off. But if it's a quick fix till you get a new one then we used glossy inter exter paint and let it REALLY dry good. Better then you would your walls or anything else like that. Good Luck MArsha

Someone said Rust-oleum as a joke but it is no joke. They make Tub-N-Tile which is a 2 part epoxy hard as nails. I have done shower floors and tub and have had no failures or scartches. A counter top would likely scratch more but for under $20 its could be worth your investigation. RustOleum.com
